What Use Are Flowers?
Voorhees Mall, Rutgers University, New Brunswick NJ
May 4—October 1, 2019
What Use are Flowers? was an exhibition displayed at the Voorhees Mall of ten outdoor sculptures made by Rutgers MFA students Michael Caudo, Mariangela Ciccarello, Enrique Figueredo, Atisha Fordyce, Leonid Hrytsak, Ruby Jackson, Cherilyn Kurtz, Iris Ward Loughran, William Robinson, Jonathan Santoro, Francesca Strada, and Valerie Suter.
Made over the course of the Spring 2019 semester as part of a graduate seminar lead by Patrick Strzelec and Ohad Meromi, these projects consider what it means to make a public artwork today and explore topics specific to the site itself, as well as broader topics dealing with public space such as: architecture, surveillance and the Anthropocene.
