Imagined Landscapes

‘Imagined Landscapes’ is a small part of a large body of work in which I seek to understand in a landscape, that which moves the soul. Instead of waiting for that perfect moment on location, I attempt to create it in my studio. Constructing a stochastic model (a 3 x 4 metre pool of water), I manipulate the variables - form, light and shadow. The images reveal themselves - each unique and impossible to repeat.

While these ‘Imagined Landscapes’ are devoid of specific place, they possess the familiarity and soul of somewhere I feel I have been.

This work was first exhibited in September 2012 at Anita Traverso Gallery, Melbourne. It was then exhibited in association with HeadOn Photo Festival 2013 at Gaffa Creative Precinct, Sydney in June 2013.

The book of the exhibition, 'Near Death + Imagined Landscapes' was a finalist in HeadOn Momento Photo Book Award 2013. Designed by Peter Whyte.

Limited editioned large format pigment prints on Canson Baryta Photographique 320 gsm archival paper are available for purchase.
