While we don’t have computers in our younger grades classrooms, we recognize that new technologies make it possible for young people to access information, connect, and express their creativity in meaningful ways. Yet with such opportunities can come challenges that our students need to learn to navigate too. Starting in 6th Grade, Cyber Civics lessons teach our students to become responsible digital citizens. Through a series of engaging topics and activities that call on critical thinking, ethical discussion and decision making, our middle schoolers develop the digital literacy skills needed to successfully navigate and thrive in an online world.

In 7th and 8th Grade, our teachers also guide students in learning how to find, retrieve, analyze, and use digital information. Our middle schoolers also learn how to type, write and edit within a document, and give digital presentations.
