[project(s) for] flying objects

[projects for] flying objects  is a ongoing projects for pilots and their aircraft (i.e. flying objects).

Closson is in the process of acquiring their Private Pilot License certificate.

PROJECT(S) IN-DEVELOPMENT

FLYING OBJECT(s). Augment Reality (AR) / Virtual Reality (VR) Flight training software. tentative April 2022 release. Website: flyingobjectsproject.com [coming soon!!!]
FLIGHT TRAINING STUDY GUIDE (title TBA). In collaboration with Farida Amar. April 2022 release.

PAST PROJECTS

GROUND MANEUVERS: [choreography for] flying objects. Image and Sound In Spite Of... [IASIPO]. (curated by Milenko Prvacki). Singapore, Singapore/Virtual. July 2020. Documentation HERE.

Flying Objects [a simulation]

a (in-process) simulation of the maneuvers of flight.

These simulations will be enveloped into an augmented reality (AR) immersive application and expanded into physical interactive programmable objects (via Raspberry Pi)  for flight training.

Initial flight simulation and movement studies were exhibited as a multi-channel video Ground Maneuvers (2020) in the exhibition In Spite of..., curated by Milenko Prvački.

Ongoing: Project(s) for Flying Objects - Aviation and Movement workshop(s)
Santa Monica Airport (ksmo), Santa Monica, CA | Wednesdays (Dec. 2020-ongoing)

Emerging from the initial movement project [choreography] for flying objects: ground maneuvers (July 2020), Aviation and Movement is comprised of a softening of this choreography for somatic meditation. The workshop dissects the sounds and space(s) of Santa Monica Airport merged with body-object relations of flight.

PROJECT(S) IN-DEVELOPMENT:

Flying Objects Project Augment Reality (AR) to Virtual Reality (VR) program

The in-process VR program is to be utilized as a tool for learning engine systems and for instrument training. With the VR program flight training students will be able to expand and looking inside and engine to understand its parts and function in entirety.  Imagine reaching into an aircraft engine, expanding its parts, suspending them in the air to acquire a dimensional and relational understanding of their function, processes, and form.

The Augmented/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) program for flight training, Flying Objects, was initially developed June 2020 when Closson started flying training at Santa Monica Airport (KSMO) at Santa Monica Flyers where the aircraft became their isolation pod.

PAST PROJECTS:

[choreography for] flying objects, 'Ground Maneuvers'

Ground maneuvering is an excerpt from a series of movement studies that dissects the practice of embedded flight maneuvers in one's body memory and maneuvering space in contemporary conditions. When learning how to fly one is encouraged to ‘chair fly’ on the off-days of flying to acquire a body memory of the sequence of maneuvers. This is the non-chair version.

In extension, the piece expands into a choreographic notation for flight instructors.

exhibited in the virtual exhibition In Spite of... [curated by Milenko Prvacki]. LaSalle College of the Arts, Singapore, Singapore. HERE
