This is the Sierra Blanca congregation of The Apostolic Assembly of the Faith in Christ Jesus. The denomination, founded in 1925, is the oldest Spanish/English Oneness Pentecostal denomination in the United States, with dozens of congregations throughout the U.S. and in other countries.

This building was built in 1925 as the Millican Memorial Baptist Church. It was founded by L. R. Millican, for whom is was named. Millican, a pioneering minister who had also worked as a mail carrier and freight driver across west Texas, founded or was an early pastor of several west Texas churches, including churches in Fort Davis, Valentine, and Van Horn. He died in 1938.
