The fine print

To participate in the Portraiture Workshop at Naulakha, please read under workshop fees below.

Naulakha, the Rudyard Kipling House, sits a comfortable drive from several major cities and minutes from historic Brattleboro, Vermont on the Connecticut River.  Travel and sightseeing details are below.

Traveling to Naulakha

The Rudyard Kipling House is located at 707 Kipling Road in Dummerston, Vermont, about 200 miles north of New York City, 100 miles east of Boston, and 240 miles south of Montreal.  There is ample free on-site parking.  If traveling by train, the nearest station is Brattleboro (BRA), about four miles away.  Please note that train service is limited, and you will likely need to travel on October 14 if you are coming by train.

Attractions and distractions

If you spend time in the area before or after the workshop, there is much to see and do.  The Brattleboro Literary Festival runs from October 13 to 15, 2017.  More cultural events such as the Brattleboro Craft Show are planned for October 2017.  Scott Farm Orchard is adjacent to Naulakha, Honora Winery is 25 miles away, and the nearby Connecticut River is beautiful.  For accommodation, the Latchis Hotel in Brattleboro is both a historic theatre and a splendor of art deco design.

Workshop fees and terms

Tuition of $500 includes the workshop, use of provided equipment, dinner, continental breakfast, parking, and overnight (double occupancy) accommodation.  (If you're in the area and don't need accommodation, the fee's that much less.)  Payment by check, ChaseQuickPay or Paypal is accepted.  Enrollment is limited to nine students, and room selection is done on a first-come, first-serve basis.  And thank you for not smoking.
