July’s contest theme
This month, the theme for Format Picks is: print’s not dead.
Even though we’re a thoroughly online publication, we still believe in the importance of artists creating printed work and sharing it on the internet. We want to see creative work that explores this idea, whether it’s a collage that repurposes old magazines, a 35mm photograph, a page from your sketchbook, your interpretation of a favorite book, or a font you’ve designed.
Your submission doesn’t need to actually be printed or created using paper. It just needs to reference this theme in some way, whether that’s through the form or content of your work (or both!). Your submission can explore the history of print, or it can challenge the idea that print is still surviving by imagining an all-digital future.

Você pode enviar trabalhos na forma de fotografia, desenho, pintura, escultura, colagem, GIF, ilustração digital ou qualquer outro meio visual de sua escolha. A participação é limitada a uma imagem por pessoa. Se você enviar mais de uma imagem, apenas a primeira será considerada uma inscrição válida.
De preferência, as imagens devem ter no mínimo 1200 pixels de largura e resolução de 72 dpi. Arquivos JPG ou PNG são os melhores. Inclua seu nome e sobrenome no nome do arquivo que você enviar.
Your submission should also include a brief statement on how your work relates to the theme.
O prêmio
If you’ve always wanted to print your own magazine or zine, now’s your chance.
This month, we’re offering one winner the chance to see their work in print, courtesy of our friends Clube de jornais. Newspaper Club is an online service that makes it easy to make and print a newspaper, with a selection of different sizes from big broadsheets to mini zines. Newspaper Club is offering $500 worth of print services to the winner, which can be used to create any newsprint-based project they like.
The winner will also be highlighted in a Format Magazine article, and will have their completed print project showcased on the magazine as well.
