Portriat Commission Prices
Below you will find a pricing guide, to help you decide which type of portrait may fit your budget. Please note, all prices are very much indicative only, and an exact price will be given after discussing all the specific requirements and details of the commission. For example, a portrait with props or an elaborate background will cost more than one with a plain background.
A final price will be quoted before the commencement of the painting, and a non-refundable 50% deposit will also be required from the outset.
Prices below are subject to change, and do not include framing or travel costs.
Portrait Paintings (Oil on Canvas or Panel)
SMALL
Head and shoulders.
8x10 inches - 10x12 inches.
NZ$500-$1000
SMALL-MEDIUM
Head and shoulders.
10x12 inches - 16x20 inches.
NZ$1000-$1500
MEDIUM
Head and torso.
(Possibly including arms/hands and multiple figures).
16x20 inches - 18x24 inches:
NZ$1500-$2200
($700 for each additional head, $200 for each additional arm/hand).
LARGE
Head and torso.
(Possibly including arms/hands and multiple figures).
18x24 inches or larger.
NZ$2200-$3000
($700 for each additional head, $200 for each additional arm/hand).
EXTRA LARGE
Full-length figure:
NZ$3000-$8000
(This is very dependent on canvas size, the sitters dress and their setting. Please enquire for more details).
Portrait Drawings (Pencil or Charcoal on Paper)
SIMPLE DRAWING
A smaller simple drawing (size ranging between A3 and A2):
NZ$400-$600.

For a larger and more polished drawing (size ranging between A2 and A1):
NZ$800 - $1200.
