While Instagram is busy innovating, or maybe just copying Snapchat, Moscow-based designer Misha Petrick took the social media platform back to 1995 with his “Instagram for Windows 95″ GIF series.
It’s a nostalgic user experience for anyone that gets wistful at the sight of a CD-ROM. All of Instagram’s usual functions (adding filters, getting follower notifications) are smoothly reimagined in the blocky Windows 95 aesthetic. Watch as the killer whales spin in their pixelated blue background and get 1,132 likes with, not the swipe of a finger, but the click of a mouse.
