Nigerian Artist Abraham O. Oghobase on Exploring Identity and Representation

Abraham Oghobase is a Nigerian artist currently based in Hamilton, Ontario. He approaches his photo-based practice much like a composer, sampling and remixing imagery, materials, and diagrams. The resulting works are richly layered compositions about identity, race, and colonization. Oghobase’s work has been exhibited widely, including at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto; the Polygon Gallery, Vancouver; Goodman Gallery, Johannesburg; Pace Gallery, London, KADIST, Paris; and Art Twenty One, Lagos. Oghobase holds an MFA in Visual Arts from York University, Toronto.
