Artist Art

Carl Anderson

“Carl Anderson’s sculptural work delves into playful yet introspective reflections on his personal experiences, using a visual language that explores masculinity, duty, and power. His recent ceramic sculptures draw inspiration from objects like medieval armour, animal traps, and barbed wire – symbols that evoke both menace and nobility. Through these forms, Anderson examines how historical symbols of protection and control continue to resonate with contemporary notions of authority.”

Holly

“Holly Anderson works primarily with painting as a practice for investigating anxious bodily and psychic sensations. An awareness of the body as a form messily embedded within threatened ecologies belies this interest. With continual reference to the bathers and sunlit landscapes of classical romantic landscape painting, various ways the body might be more strangely implicated in these systems are tentatively explored.”
